Free ovulation calculator. Enter the first day of your last period and your average cycle length to estimate your ovulation day and fertile window for trying to conceive.

Enter the first day of your last period to see your estimated fertile window.

This is an estimate based on average cycle timing. Ovulation predictor kits or tracking your own cycle signs give a more precise picture — always discuss family planning with your healthcare provider.

How Ovulation Day Is Estimated

This calculator uses the fact that the luteal phase — the time between ovulation and the start of your next period — is fairly constant at around 14 days for most people, while the phase before ovulation is what actually varies in length from cycle to cycle. So ovulation is estimated as your cycle length minus 14 days, counted from the first day of your last period.

The fertile window extends a few days before ovulation (because sperm can survive in the reproductive tract for up to 5 days) through about a day after (the egg's viable window). This gives the widest realistic range of days when intercourse could lead to conception, with the two days immediately before ovulation typically carrying the highest chance.

Frequently Asked Questions

How is ovulation day calculated?

Most cycles have a fairly constant luteal phase (the time between ovulation and your next period) of about 14 days, while the first half of the cycle (before ovulation) is what actually varies in length. This calculator estimates ovulation as 14 days before your next expected period — that is, the first day of your last period plus your cycle length, minus 14 days.

What is the "fertile window"?

Sperm can survive in the reproductive tract for up to 5 days, while the egg is viable for about 12–24 hours after ovulation. That gives a fertile window of roughly 5 days before ovulation through 1 day after — intercourse anywhere in that window can lead to conception, though the day of and the day before ovulation carry the highest chance.

Does this work if my cycle is irregular?

This calculator assumes a reasonably regular cycle. If your cycle length varies a lot from month to month, the estimate will be less reliable — tracking ovulation signs (basal body temperature, cervical mucus changes, or ovulation predictor kits) alongside the calculator gives a more accurate picture.

Can I get pregnant outside the calculated fertile window?

It is uncommon but not impossible, mainly because ovulation timing can shift slightly from cycle to cycle even in people who are usually regular. The calculated window is a strong estimate, not an absolute guarantee.
