A baby pool is the guessing game people play at a baby shower: everyone predicts when the baby will arrive, how big they will be, and whether it is a boy or a girl. It is normally done with a printed sheet that someone has to collect and tally by hand. This is the same game as a link you can send to a group chat, scored automatically when the baby arrives. Add a nickname for the baby — "Peanut" works as well as a real name — your due date, and which details people should guess. Four fields are on by default; the shorter the form, the more people finish it.

You get a single link to drop into the family group chat. There is nothing for anyone to install and no account to create — guests just tap it, type their name, and guess.

The live vote sits at the top of the page and shifts with every guess. If you do not know the gender yet, you can reveal it later and the pool keeps running for the rest of the guesses.
Enter the result when the baby arrives
Add the real birth details and everyone is scored automatically. Closest guess wins, the full leaderboard is shown, and you have a small record of who called it.
What people can guess
- Gender. A straight vote, and the part everyone actually plays for. The live split bar is what people screenshot and pass around.
- Birth date. Closest guess to the real date scores highest. Only about 1 in 20 babies arrive exactly on the due date, so this is genuinely open.
- Time of birth. Within half an hour scores full marks, then points taper by the hour.
- Weight. In kilograms or pounds and ounces — the pool picks a unit and shows the same one to every guest, whatever their own phone is set to.
- Length, name and hair colour. All optional and off by default. Turn them on if your group wants a longer game.
Why ours is free when others are not
Most baby pool tools let three to six people join, then hide the guesses behind a payment. That is a strange place to put a wall: seeing who guessed what is the entire reason a parent set the pool up. Ours has no participant limit and nothing hidden, because the pool does not need to earn its keep — we make parenting apps, and this is simply a good way to meet the people who might one day want one.
No money, ever. There is no prize pot, no payments, and no virtual currency — and no plan to add any. A baby pool with money in it stops being a celebration and becomes something else.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is the baby pool really free?
Yes — free and unlimited. There is no cap on how many people can join, no paywall on seeing the guesses, and no upgrade prompt. Most baby pool tools let a handful of people join and then charge to unlock the rest; we do not, because this is not how Whispie makes money.
Do my guests need an app or an account?
No. They open the link in whatever browser they already have, type their name, and submit a guess. Email is optional and only used to let them know when the baby arrives. Anything more than that would cost you guests, and the guests are the whole point.
Is there any money or betting involved?
None. There is no prize pot, no payment, no virtual currency, and no way to add one. It is a guessing game for bragging rights — that is a deliberate product decision, not a limitation we plan to remove.
Can I run a pool if I already know the gender?
Yes. Say so when you set it up and the vote is switched off, replaced by a badge showing what you are having. The other guesses — date, time, weight — work exactly the same.
Can I reveal the gender before the birth?
Yes, and it is one of the nicer moments. After a scan or a reveal party you can announce it from the pool page: the vote locks, everyone can see who called it right, and the rest of the pool carries on until the birth.
When should I start a baby pool?
Most people set one up around the baby shower, often somewhere in the second trimester, which leaves plenty of time for guesses to come in. There is no deadline though — a pool started in the last few weeks still works.
How are the guesses scored?
Each active field awards points for being close: exact gender, closest date, time within thirty minutes, weight within fifty grams, and so on, with points tapering as guesses get further off. If two people tie, the one closer to the birth date wins; if they are still tied, whoever guessed first takes it. The scoring is shown on the pool page so nobody has to take our word for it.
What happens to the guesses afterwards?
They stay on the pool page so you can look back at it. You can delete the whole pool at any time from the page itself — that removes the pool and every guess immediately, with nothing kept and no message sent to anyone.
